Where can someone sign the petition?

Email us at cubsark@gmail.com to learn more about the petition. There are no places that you can sign the petition at because each canvasser must witness each signature that is received.

How many signatures do you have and how many do you need?

The article in the Arkansas Leader said that the goal was about 1400 signatures. I think it's only 15% of the total number of voters in the 2006 mayoral general election. You can look it up at:

I guess I don't understand. Our city government votes unanimously to save our green space? So WHY are we trying to undermine our elected officials votes?

Through Amendment 7 of the Arkansas Constitution, the people of Arkansas reserve to themselves the power to propose ballot initiatives and referendums. The Constitution Of The State Of Arkansas Of 1874. Amend. 7. Initiative and Referendum (Const., Art. 5, § 1, Amended). This amendment amended Const., Art. 5, § 1, and is incorporated therein. The amendment was adopted at the general election of Nov. 2, 1920, by a vote of 86,360 for and 43,662 against. It was declared adopted in Brickhouse v. Hill, 167 Ark. 513, 268 S.W. 865 (1925).

That's way too much information that I personally could care less about. Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong. Everything in this world has a 6 foot back door you can open to get out of whatever you find yourself in, but that does not make it RIGHT.
I don't want to sign your petition. I think it is a trouble stirrer and will not help to our community, as a whole.
Sorry, I think you are very WRONG.

Well you are entitled to your opinion h2odog. That is what makes this country great! Just because you don't agree with the referendum petition doesn't give you the right to stand in judgement and say that the effort is wrong.
It is not controversial, it is not stiring trouble, it is only to exercise our constitutional rights afforded to us both on a National and State level.

How did the petition go?

About 1200 signatures short is my understanding.

An additional 10 days is allowed un Arkansas statute to collect more signatures. Yes, the numbers were low but there was less than 10days during the first canvassing period.
So, the new deadline to turn in signatures is no later than Friday, March 7th.
