Whatever happened to the Sherwood parks study?
Will it encompass the North Hills property and the needs of the annexed areas in Gravel Ridge.
Does anybody know if there will be a meeting on this?

Study in standard government English means, "What we wanted got tabled so we will declare a study and hope it is forgotten."
Parks saw that rampant increases and charging people to clean pavilions so they could be used (apparently Parks does not believe that pavilions should be provided clean instead of the industry standard where the only cleaning fee should be for leaving it dirty) wasn't going to fly. So a study was declared to permit a graceful exit.
If a "study" emerges it will be a nice printed sheet showing the charges and fees in other "selected" cities (selected means those cities with higher fees not ones with lower fees).
Or it will be something related to use of the golf course.
What it will not be is an examination of non-revenue generating recreational uses that can be encouraged or improved on existing property. It won't be about jogging, hiking, biking or any sort of non-fee generating exercise or activities.
The Sherwood Park system is built upon
1. Rental to team sports. The attraction of a handful of teams who mostly don't eat or sleep in Sherwood is why we pay that Hamburger Tax for Advertising and Promotion.
2. Generating paying customers for the rec center.
3. Keeping the non-fee parks from distracting from purpose 1 and 2.
I heard a study of this kind take a lot of considerations and time.
It will be detailed and a lot of help to our city.
I'm proud we have hired this done, as not every city will go to this length to get the right answers for our grand children's future, with thought and concern for all!
