Drainage After Improvements?

This is the open ditch by the Crackerbox on Brockington after improvements. A child or pet could easily be swept away.

Note all the silt in this storm drainage ditch. Where do you think this water ends up? It flows directly into Indianhead Lake along with all the trash that you see. Indianhead Lake has had major problems with silt accumulating in the lake bottom area and trash flowing into its waterways.

Drainage and ditches, along Brockington Road are a definate issue. The condition of Brockington Improvement (Phase II)
is terrible. (Phase II) runs south from Indian Bay to Kiehl Ave. (Phase I) improvements run north from Indian Bay to Hwy. 107. Obvious preparations are underway for the widening of that stretch.
While we wait on the completion of (Phase I) we can not continue to drive on the rough and deteriorating surface from Indian Bay south tho Kiehl Ave a.k.a. (Phase II) Widening Project. The pavement condition can not wait on the future date of (Phase II). The City should pave Brockington from 25' South of Austin Bay Ct. south to Sherer Ave. to eliminate the rough terrain we drive on every day. The city is out patching potholes on the (Phase II) stretch, numerous times each month, especially following a big rain event.
I am in hopes that this will be considered on the re-surfacing projects as a PRIORITY!

Every since the day we moved into our home, when it rains, we can count on our sewer system getting backed up. Every time we have asked the city about this, the answer has been the same - there's nothing wrong with our system. Yet, if you go out on those days and look in the drainage by the street, you can easily see that there is a problem there. We have had to pay countless dollars and time in having our sewer worked on and the problem still exists even after our replacing our pipe out from the house to the street. Our next door neighbors' home floods all the way up into their garage. Several other neighbors have the same problem as us - yet the city does nothing!

Does anyone have a suggestion for this long time problem? We have lived here for over 7 years.

Hi Ward 3 Citizen, I suggest that you take photos of the problem after a rain and present them at a city council meeting. They can't ignore the issue if you present your problem in public. You can always send your photos to us and we'll post them on the blog.

Write a letter to the Mayor and your Aldermen to try and get their attention. If you have replaced your sewer line and are still experiencing a problem, it sounds like its a systems issue and not isolated to your home.

What street do you live on?
